Konar "The Destroyer" is my very big coal-black Halloween cat. He keeps bringing home little "souvenirs" of his hunting expeditions!

We adopted him when he was 6 weeks old in 1994. Our veterinarian found him in a large garbage container along with his two siblings.

They were all bottle fed and the dog took care of them as if they were her own pups.
Konar has now reached the geriatric age of 12, and all he wants to do is sleep and eat. But I must give credit where it is due. He is still a great hunter!

Last week he came in for his lunch, snack or brunch, I was not sure which meal this was but to my horror he had this grayish brown thing in his mouth, now I was sure it was not a mouse or a rat but I was not sure what it was. Like a good hunter hen walked over purring loudly and dropped it at my feet!

I lean down, picked him up and placed him on the cupboard to eat and receive his praise for his present to me. I started to investigate this "present" and was still not sure what kind of animal this was. I called for Gary and when he came in to the kitchen He was as surprised as I was but he knew what this animal was. It is a vole he announced, a vole I said; I never knew we had these around here? Apparently they have moved in to the field across the street, we are thinking the part time nursery that brings in plants and trees to sell in the spring might have brought them in this year.

Knowing Konar we are never surprised what he will find to bring home to us if it is in the area he will bring it home. Oh except birds, no he never kills the birds we feed all year long. He was brought up with birds so I assume he does not look at them as food.
SADIE, THE TABBY CAT
One Saturday morning as we walked into the grocery store there was a lady with a box of kittens she was giving away. Mom has wanted a yellow tabby for a long time and as she looked into the box this little yellow kitten looked up at her.
Needless to say away she went with that little kitten curled in her arms.

We went into the store and purchased a kitty litter pan, kitten food, collar with a bell and of course some catnip toys. When we brought her home we were a little afraid of what Abby might do, but as soon as Abby and Sadie met it was love at first sight.

They cuddled and rubbed each other and became best friends immediately. We think the kitten thought Abby was her Mommy.

They eat together, play together and Sadie curls up with Abby for their naps.
I can watch cats for hours, their attacks and curiosity is so entertaining. Mom and I purchased a brightly colored cloth cube with a toy in it and Sadie spends hours in it hiding and stocking Abby. She then jumps out and gives a swipe with her paw or leaps up and wraps her paws around Abby's neck and hangs on.

Recently Mom fell and cracked her pelvis and I purchased a pink "Cancer Society" walker. As soon as Gary put it together Sadie jumped on the seat and proceeded to take it over. She rides on it all the house. She will sit and sleep for hours on it and never moves when mom starts to push it.

She loves Mom and wants to be with her no matter where she is. Another favorite place for her to sleep is on the table next to Moms computer, if Mom is on the computer you can bet Sadie will be right there with her. Sadie is an indoor cat and is not allowed outside, so we do not have to worry about her bring us treats in like Konar.

When Mom and I go to the pet stores we are amazed at what is available for our pets. In a very short time you will find strollers, castles, all sizes and shapes of flavored cat treats. Bright shirts, cat coats and other clothes, fancy, jewel studded collars, leashes and every color and shape of kitty litter pans then there's a huge range of cat books and cat calendars.

Then if you want to keep your pets clean visit the bath aisle, there are brushes, combs, pretty scented cat bath products and much much more. Just taking a quick walk though the store you will see just how much we love and pamper our pets.

In our home our pets are considered our kids -- how about yours?
