Snowbird ski resort is located one mile down canyon from Alta. Snowbird and Alta receives over 42 feet of "dry" Utah powder annually. Snowbasin was the world stage at the Olympic Winter Games in February 2002. Two of the most challenging downhill race courses ever traced on a mountain can be found here. The quality of the snow found in the mountains is unbelievable and the access to the backcountry is phenomenal, you can find deep wonderful powder on any given day.
If you snowboard this is just what you are looking for. There are many trails cut just for snowboarding ! Lets not forget the children; everyone loves a sleigh ride down a hill. In Utah there is snow for everyone and everything!
If you are planning on coming to Utah to ski be sure to have a good pair of sunglasses and sun block to help with the high altitude sun rays we have here. There are excellent ski shops that sell everything you need to ski or for your snowboarding. Skis and accessories like ski jackets , bibs, gloves , pants, scarves and any kind of rugged sporting gear you are looking for. Many affordable lodges can be found at the resorts where you can wine and dine at your pleasure.
The food at the lodges is world known, and don't miss the hot tubs and pools on the top of some of the resorts. Ski in the snow and warm up in the pools with a nice hot drink before dinning. It doesn't get much better than this. |
